I believe in working in partnership, helping you identify and use your strengths to overcome the challenges that hold you back and cause you pain. I deeply respect your uniqueness as an individual and view you as the primary expert in your own life, and I aim to help you build confidence and self-respect.

From a psychodynamic understanding, I guide you towards comprehending your inner self and how your thoughts and feelings affect your reactions and behavior. From a relational understanding, I help you examine how you see yourself in relation to others, your wants and needs in relation to others, and the interplay of how you and significant people in your life affect each other. While to varying degrees we look at family of origin and other past life experiences to understand their influences, the main focus is figuring out improved ways of dealing with stresses and resolving conflicts, both internal and external, in the present.

My style is warm and collaborative, with the goal of making our therapeutic relationship a safe place for expressing yourself freely, resolving conflicts as they may occur, and exploring yourself in relation to another. Our overall goal is to generate insight and self-realization, allowing both appreciation for and independent freedom from the past, and subsequently, deeper contentment in the present.

I earned a degree in Psychology from Georgetown University, where I was also a student athlete, and a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. During my career I have worked with adults, young adults, and children with a wide variety of health and mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, family of origin challenges, relationship and sexuality issues, life transitions, women’s and social justice issues, eating concerns, identity exploration, the psychology of sports, loss and grief, and self-esteem and empowerment. Another element that I bring into therapy is optimizing self-care through cultivating a healthy lifestyle.

Wherever you are on your journey, I thank you for letting me join you, and while healing and development is a process, know that it is possible.
